Can Felons get jobs in Teaching or Medical Fields?
I have been convicted of a drunk driving felony. I have been a part of the AA fellowship since my last drink date of Nov. 26, 2011. I attend AA daily and make coffee and set up tables at my home group. I also have a sponsor, making many friends within the AA fellowship. I have a B.B.A. degree as well as a K-8 teaching certificate. Teaching is my passion and would like to stay within the education field. However, I have been told that the education and medical fields do not hire felons. Where can I go other than the MI Works center for help finding a professional position. My criminal record are all drunk drivings. Please advise and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
CL
Can Felons get jobs in Teaching or Medical Fields?
Hello CL,

As far as a career in the medical field, don't assume that your background will exclude you from a career. I know of people with criminal records that have jobs in doctor's offices, clinics and hospitals. Contact the medical board in your state to find out for certain if you can be certified or licensed in your state.
